According to the historical registers of the Municipality of Montalcino, it originated in around 1300. At the time, it was not a residential property but served as a workshop for the production of baskets used for the transportation of goods. In days gone by, Montalcino was renowned for its craftsmanship. There are numerous records of workshops for the production of rope made from hemp, the crafting of leather goods and of pottery.

[/vc_column_text][vc_empty_space][vc_single_image image=”5795″ img_size=”large” alignment=”center”][/vc_column_inner][/vc_row_inner][vc_row_inner equal_height=”yes” content_placement=”middle”][vc_column_inner css=”.vc_custom_1476282708726{padding: 0px !important;}”]

 The original access route

A strategic point for the artisans of Montalcino

[vc_column_text css=”.vc_custom_1717679414780{margin-bottom: 25px !important;border-right-width: 10% !important;border-left-width: 10% !important;padding-right: 10% !important;padding-left: 10% !important;}”]

The Podere is right next to the walls of Montalcino, along the original access route to the village. Softened in the waters of the nearby “Fosso del Trogolo”, the chestnut wood was easy to work with, and skilled local craftsmen would weave it to create baskets destined for the transportation of a variety of goods.

[/vc_column_text][vc_empty_space][vc_single_image image=”4320″ img_size=”large” alignment=”center”][/vc_column_inner][/vc_row_inner][vc_row_inner equal_height=”yes” content_placement=”middle”][vc_column_inner css=”.vc_custom_1476282708726{padding: 0px !important;}”]

 Trade

The trade routes

[vc_column_text css=”.vc_custom_1717671146636{margin-bottom: 25px !important;padding-right: 10% !important;padding-left: 10% !important;}”]

There is a road around “La Casella” which created the fortune of the Montalcino area in the past.
